HUG ME DOGS

PetPal

Privacy Policy

Your dog's records are private to you.

Effective 21 September 2026. This policy explains what HUG ME DOGS PetPal collects, why, and how it stays protected.

The short version: your records, photos and videos are locked to your own signed-in account, payments are handled by Stripe (we never see your card), and you can ask us to export or delete everything at any time.

What PetPal is

PetPal is a pet care organisation and record-keeping tool made by HUG ME DOGS. It helps you keep your dog's health and care information in one calm, private place.

PetPal does not provide veterinary diagnosis, medical or treatment advice, and never advises on medication doses. Always contact your veterinarian for medical decisions, and an emergency vet in an emergency.

Account information

When you create an account we collect your name (if you provide it) and email address. We use these to create your account, sign you in securely, send essential service emails such as address confirmation, and respond to support requests.

If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google. We never post to your Google account or access anything beyond what is needed to sign you in.

Dog profiles and details

You can create profiles for your dogs, including their name, breed, age, weight and any conditions you choose to note. This information is used only to organise your records within PetPal and to personalise reminders and summaries you generate.

Health and care records

Records you enter — medications, seizures, feeding, walks, weight, vet visits, vaccinations, grooming and general care logs — are stored so you can review your dog's history, share a summary with your vet or a carer, and print a Pet Care Summary.

Your records are visible only to your signed-in account. PetPal staff do not review, analyse or use your records except where you explicitly ask us to (for example, a support request you send us).

Photos and videos

Photos and videos you attach to records — including seizure footage — are uploaded to your own private, encrypted storage area in our cloud. Each file is stored under a path scoped to your account and pet, and can only be accessed by your signed-in account.

You can view, download, share and delete this media from within the app at any time. Deleting an attachment from a record also deletes the file from our storage.

Reminders and notifications

If you set up reminders, PetPal stores the reminder schedule (what, when and how often) so it can alert you on your devices. On phones and tablets, reminder notifications are scheduled on the device itself so they can appear even when PetPal is closed.

We ask for your permission before enabling notifications, and you can turn them off at any time in your device settings or in the app.

Device and app information

When something goes wrong, PetPal collects basic technical error information (such as the error message and the screen it occurred on) so we can fix problems. This is not used for advertising and is not sold or shared with advertisers.

Subscription and payment information

Subscriptions are billed at 5.99 AUD per month or 59.99 AUD per year after a 30-day free trial. All payments are processed by Stripe. PetPal never sees or stores your credit card details — card details go directly to Stripe over an encrypted connection.

We store only your Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, your plan status, and trial and renewal dates, so we can show your plan in the app and manage cancellations.

Where your data lives and how it is protected

PetPal runs on Lovable Cloud, built on Supabase, with media storage and an Australian-first approach to keeping your information safe. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest in the database and storage.

Access to your data is enforced at the database level: every record and every stored file is locked to your own signed-in account, so no other member can read your dog's records — and you cannot read theirs.

Third-party services

PetPal relies on a small number of trusted services to operate:

  • Lovable Cloud / Supabase — account authentication, database and media storage.
  • Stripe — subscription payments and the customer portal where you manage your card.
  • Google — optional 'Continue with Google' sign-in.
  • Our email provider — essential service emails such as address confirmation.
  • Our error-monitoring provider — technical error reports used to fix bugs.

Your rights and choices

You are always in control of your dog's information. Within the app you can view, correct and delete your records, pet profiles, media and reminders at any time.

You can also ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and everything in it by emailing hello@hugmedogs.com.au, or by using the account deletion request page linked below. We will action access, correction and deletion requests within 30 days. Deleting your account removes your profile, pets, records and stored media, subject to any legally required retention.

If you cancel your subscription, you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for, and your data remains yours to export or delete.

Children's privacy

PetPal is intended for adult dog owners and carers. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update it on this page with a new effective date. If a change materially affects how we use your information, we will notify you in the app before it takes effect.

Contact us

Questions, requests or complaints about your privacy? Email hello@hugmedogs.com.au and we will respond within 5 business days.

To request deletion of your account and personal data, use our account deletion request page.

PetPal is an organisation and record-keeping tool only. It does not provide veterinary diagnosis, treatment or dosage advice. Always contact your veterinarian for medical decisions, and an emergency vet in an emergency.
